Meet AMEA's new Network Director: Mark Blackett
AMEA is excited to welcome Mark Blackett on board as Network Director. Mark is a UK Chartered Accountant who worked for KPMG and multinational companies before leaping into the development world in the last 20 years. He has contributed to large and small NGOs, leading innovations on social marketing and inclusive business development, as well as contributing to a number of large scale humanitarian responses. Mark has worked in Uganda, Sudan, Vietnam and Ethiopia and most recently with Rikolto in East Africa, supporting the development of the horticulture and grain sectors.
As the AMEA Network Director, Mark will work towards creating and strengthening high quality relationships and collaborations that advance the mission of AMEA. The Network Director is the primary point of contact for Alliance members and aims to support the Alliance in reaching its shared goals.
Mark shared the following with us about his new role:
“I was given the opportunity to be Rikolto’s representative for AMEA and I have served on the AMEA Board as well as contributed to the working groups and the start up of the Uganda local network. These opportunities made it clear to me that I have a passion for AMEA’s work and the vision that we all share. I do not underestimate the challenges we face to deliver system change but by working together I believe we have a real opportunity to deliver on the potential that AMEA provides. I look forward to the challenge and working with all of you.”
We are looking forward to this new chapter of AMEA, using Mark’s valuable experience to build a stronger Alliance and advance professional farmer organizations! Mark will officially start with AMEA on May 14th and he hopes to see many of you at the Convening in Nairobi.
